IPL, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, and Navin were fined by the BCCI for their aggressive behavior during the matches.

In the 43rd match of IPL 2023, played at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, a high-voltage drama unfolded between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants. During the match, two prominent players, Virat Kohli of RCB and Gautam Gambhir, who is the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants, engaged in heated on-field exchanges, leading to a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct.

According to reports, the incident occurred during the 16th over of the RCB innings when Kohli hit a six off Lucknow Super Giants' fast bowler Navin-ul-Haq's delivery. In response to the shot, Gambhir, who was standing in the dugout, made some remarks that Kohli found objectionable. The RCB skipper then confronted Gambhir, and the two had a heated exchange of words.

The situation quickly escalated, with both Kohli and Gambhir getting visibly agitated and continuing to engage in a war of words. The umpires had to intervene to separate the two players and restore order on the field. The incident led to a delay in play, with the umpires taking some time to defuse the situation.

Following the incident, the IPL governing body launched an investigation into the matter and found both Kohli and Gambhir guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. As a result, both players were fined 100% of their match fee, with the money going into the IPL's central fund.

The incident sparked widespread criticism from fans and former players alike, with many calling for stricter action against players who engage in such behavior on the field. Some have also raised concerns about the impact such incidents could have on the image of the IPL, which is already facing scrutiny over issues such as match-fixing and corruption.

In response to the incident, the BCCI and the IPL governing body have pledged to take a more proactive approach towards maintaining discipline on the field and ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future. The incident has also sparked a wider debate on the need for greater accountability and transparency in the IPL, with some calling for more stringent regulations and oversight to ensure that the league remains free from corruption and misconduct.
